The participants of the Maya World tour are offered the great opportunity of understanding the social, political, economical and religious contexts that took place in the territory of the Maya between 8th century BC and 9th century AD, the impact of the Spanish arrival and colonization since the end of the 15th century, and the reasons and effects of the Civil Wars that lasted from 1961 to 1996.

The Maya civilization flourished on a territory that has nothing to do with present national borders, but it had spread on what we know as southern Mexico (Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo), Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

These tours will visit main Maya archeological and historic sites, allowing meetings with existing local Maya communities, visiting homes and workshops, sharing meals with them.

Joining our Maya World tour one gets the opportunity of learning about and from the Maya culture, acknowledging its achievements in agricultural practices, sciences, mathematics, astronomy, medicine and spiritual life.

A unique aspect these tours is that the Mayan will answer your questions with honest and frank comments about the matters that traveling in a developing country might bring.

One does not need to be an expert archeologist to join and enjoy these tours, but any curious person, interested in learning and understanding about a different culture, with respect and sincere interest will find personal satisfaction and will have a great time on our tours.

Because on these tours you will meet Maya people, who are very nice and sweet, wear colorful clothes, look different than Westerns, we know you will like to take pictures of them. We kindly ask to keep in mind that they are people like any other, that they deserve same respect as people of other countries do and to ask them permission before taking pictures of local people. They might be materially poor but they are proud of who they are, of their culture and heritage and they rarely like tourists shooting photos at them, just like we would not like strangers taking pictures of us. Same respect we owe to their religious places, ceremonies and people practicing rituals.

During our tour we will cross several regions admiring a variety of biomes and biodiversity. From the tropical forests to the mountains, from sea level to high peaks we will enjoy great natural sights and will have the chance of spotting incredible wildlife walking to and from the archeological sites and nearby the hotels where we will stay.

So, don’t forget your cameras and binoculars! The 20 days tour, which can be shortened or extended upon request, includes the visit of 8 Unesco Heritage Sites and 2 Biosphere Reserves.

We can assure first class tour services, extremely knowledgeable and friendly guides, efficient tour management, thanks to our logistic supports in Guatemala City, Tikal, Rio Dulce, Palenque and Cancun (Mexico), Cayo District (Belize) and Copan (Honduras).

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
